Singaraja Bali
Hello all! Here I come back again to tell you more about Singaraja Bali.
But before that, I would like to say sorry first, since I could not write about my itinerary about my first day in Bangkok. However, probably you would like my post about Singaraja.
I was lived in Singaraja Bali since I was 3 years old until 18 years old. After that, I was moved to Depok to continue my study at the University of Indonesia. So, in the other words, you could say that I was born and raised in Bali.
Singaraja is the oldest city in Bali and it is also a city with full of historical things. Based on data from BPS Buleleng Regency, the number of people who lived there is about 700.000 people. In 17-18 Masehi, Singaraja was the center of Buleleng Kingdom and the name of "Singaraja" means lion which resembled the wisdom of the Buleleng former king, I Gusti Anglurah Panji Sakti. And in Singaraja, we could find the oldest harbor in Nusa Tenggara, called Pelabuhan Buleleng. When Netherland came to Bali in 1846, Buleleng came as the capital city of Sunda Kecil and the capital city until 1958.
Singaraja is located in the north of Bali which it makes there are so many beaches that you will find there. One of my favorite beaches is Lovina. Lovina is a unique beach since we could find many beautiful things there, such as dolphin, sunrise, and sunset. We could find dolphin when the sun is rising and when the sunset was coming.
Since there are so many beaches here, almost 40% of the people who lived here work in agriculture and fishery sector. Although my father works as a lecturer in a university, he also has a fishpond in Gerokgak Buleleng as an additional income.
The hobby of Singaraja people mostly fishing and cooking. If you are a Balinese you will find out that people who come from Singaraja usually love to cook. And there are also so many foods that is originally come from Singaraja, like syobak, jukut buangit, blayag, jaje laklak, jaje tape uli, rujak kuah pindang, sate kakul, jukut kables and so on. All of it usually are the main reason why I miss Singaraja. And since I love all of them, I will describe the three of them, one by one as follows :
1. Syobak
As you could see in the above picture, syobak is a food which contain of pork with special seasoning. Syobak sometimes also includes kerupuk or crackers and cucumber.
2. Sate Kakul
Sate kakul is a sate which contains small snails which can be found in the rice fields in Bali. The structures of the small snails are very spongy and it will make the seasoning sink into the structures.
I guess no one could guess how delicious it is until they try the first bites of this food.
3. Jukut Kables
Jukut kables is one kind of vegetables which includes kale, toge, and long beans. All of these vegetables then mixed with shavings of the coconut and mixed with the special seasoning.
Okay, I think that's all about Singaraja, and if I have another time, I would like to continue my writing about Singaraja.
Thank you, love <3
