Movie Review - The Sound of Music

Hello All,

I'm going to review a movie with the title "The Sound of Music". This movie was created in 1965 by Robert Wise. This movie was made based on the life of Maria Augusta Von Trapp which was written in a book titled "The Story The Trapp Family Singers". This book was written by Maria Augusta Von Trapp and it tells us about her life with Trapp Family (George Von Trapp and his seven children). This movie was played by Julie Andrews as Maria and Christopher Plummer as Mr. Von Trapp.

The story began when Maria in Nonnberg Abbey. She caused so much trouble when she was in the abbey such as often going out without permission, often being late, and she also often singing out loud in the abbey. Some of her friends think that she needs to be punished, but some of them think that she brings the positive impacts to her friend since she was a funny girl and she often makes her friends laugh. However, the head of Abbey also known as "Mother Abbess" think that Maria will be happy outside the abbey and gives her a chance to live outside the abbey for three months. Related to this, Maria must live as a nanny with Trapp Family who consist of Mr. Von Trapp and his seven children. When Maria entered their house, she has a confidence that she will be fine and she will conquer the seven children. However, after she arrived at the Trapp house, she was told that the children have changed their nanny for uncountable times because of their naughtiness. At first, when she met Mr. Von Trapp, finally she knew why the children behave like that, it was because of their father who does not take care of his children. No need a long time for her to conquer the children, she taught the children to sing. They often play as if they sing their song in the edge. She also becomes close with their father. When there is a party in their house, Mr. Von Trapp also dances with Maria. Since then, they fell in love with each other. At that time, Mr. Von Trapp would marry someone, and Maria thinks that it will be uncomfortable for her if she still stayed with them. Then, she went back to Nonnberg Abbey. However, when she told Mother Abbess about it, Mother Abbess told her to come-back to Trapp Family. At first, Mr. Von Trapp did not know that he fell in love with Maria until Maria comeback again to his house. He suddenly canceled his marriage and propose Maria to be his wife. The children were very happy. When Nazi came to Austria, Von Trapp thinks that it was best for him and his family to move to America. However, when they want to escape to America, they were intercepted by the Nazi police. Fortunately, since they told that they will perform in a show as family singers they could escape to America.

When this movie was aired in 1965, there are a lot of comments from the children of Mr. Von Trapp, they think that the film is not the same with the reality that they have been faced in their life. There are so many differences between the true story and the story which was filmed by Robert Wise. I think that the editor might edit the story to be more dramatic than it was. I think this movie is very interesting since we could listen to some beautiful old song such as Edelweiss, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, and so on. What is more is we could see the beautiful side of Salzburg and Austria. I plan to visit this city when I have enough money. Amin. Okay, that's all the review of this movie. Bye and see you again! :)
