Movie Review - The Long Season

Hello there!
I am going to write a short review of a movie with the title The Long Season. Actually, last Saturday (5th May), I went to Europe on Screen in Kine Forum Taman Ismail Marzuki. At that time, a lot of movies were shown there. The audience did not need to pay to watch the film. Since I was curious about the film, I came to there and watch the film which was shown at that afternoon.

The title of the movie is The Long Season. It tells us about the refugees from Raqqa Syria to the Madjal Anjar in Beqqa Valley, near Lebanon.  It tells us about how hard the life of the refugees due to the war in Syria. Even some people still have their families in Raqqa. Their families could not leave Raqqa due to several reasons such as their main job was placed in Syria, lack of facility in camp, etc. Some of us may think that is better to leave Raqqa and stay in the camp to avoid the war. However, the life in the camp also could not guarantee a good or a better life. In this movie, we were told that there are several reasons why stayed in the camp is also not the best choice. I will explain one by one based on what I see in this movie :

1. Lack of facility in the camp, such as school, hospital, electricity, and other public facilities.
2. The supporter from UN only provide them the camp, and they did not provide refugees with bathroom facilities.
3. The higher price of food due to the higher cost of food transportation
4. Most people who live in the camp came from lower class societies so the refugees who stay in the camp will face unnecessarily conflict one to each other due to the lack of facility.

Besides that, from this movie, we could see that there are so many problems that were faced by the refugees, such as when their families in Raqqa tell them to go back meanwhile they want to start a new life in the camp. In addition, when some people want to live in the camp, they could not be accepted by people who live in the camp since the people in the camp is very conservative in some aspect. For example, they advise all people who live in the camp to wear a closed and a big shirt.

There is also a problem in finding a proper job. In this film, we will see some women in the film were carried in the truck to take a food in an area. They must follow the instruction very carefully since if they did not do that, the instructor will give a harsh word to them.

I was so sad when I watched this film. As we know, the war could not be stopped until now. I wonder how the refugees live their life in those inadequate camp. I hope the world could be better later.

Okay, I think that's all about the review of this film :)
