Book Review - 4.50 From Paddington

Hello All!
Today, I'm going to give you a review of a novel titled "4.50 From Paddington". Actually, it is a novel written by Agatha Christie, one of my favorite novelist. This novel, same with the novel that I had reviewed before, has a mystery genre. I was curious about this novel since I have watched a movie titled Paddington. Well, it has no relation to this novel wkwkwk, but the title caught me in this way. I failed to guess the culprit in a novel that I have read before. However, I also failed in this novel.

The story began when Elspeth McGillicuddy, a friend of Jane Marples, see a murder in the train. However, when she told the train-officer about the incident, the train-officer thought that Elspeth was not in a good visual and probably imagining this incident in her mind. Jane Marples, who is a genius detective, believe on her friend. She also helped her friend to tell the police that there was a murder of a woman by a tall and dark man. The police record this incident and promise will inform those ladies when they found a body of the woman. Jane and Elspeth were going home and waiting for the news in the newspaper. Meanwhile, on the next day, they found no news about a murder case in the newspaper. The police also have not found a dead body in the train. Ms. McGillicuddy is very sure that she has not imagined the incident. Jane still believed in her friend story. So, she found a way that maybe the culprit threw out the body and he will come to the place to take the body so nobody will found it. Then, Jane Marples got the answer about the place which probably became the place where the body will be thrown by the culprit. After that, she hired Lucy, who is genius in mathematics, to investigate this place. Lucy pretended that she is Jane's nephew who wanted to search a place to stay so she could visit her aunt regularly. After that, she chose the place which has been informed by Jane Marples as a place which the body probably was thrown away, Rutherford Hall. It is a home for an old man named Mr. Luther Crackanthorpe and a middle-aged woman named Ms. Emma Crackanthorpe. Mr. Luther actually has five children, named Edmund, Cedric, Harold, Emma, Albert, and Edith. Edmund passed away during the war and Edith also passed away due to a car accident. Edith has a husband named Bryan and a son named Alexander. Cedric is an artist who lives in Ibiza. Harold is a businessman and he lives in London. Albert also lives in London. The family also have a gardener, a maid, and a doctor which come regularly to their house. When Lucy found a body of a dead woman in their house, all of them were surprised. They also invite a family lawyer for them. However, when Inspector Bacon and Inspector Craddock on their way to investigate the case, Albert and Harold were dying because of arsenic poison. So, who is the true culprit??

This story was very complicated. Maybe it is because there are so many parties who could involve in this case. The language in this book is easy to read though there are some words which you should search in a dictionary. The word is not difficult, but the context of this story happens in a long time ago, so maybe there are some circumstances that we may not able to imagine such as an old tool using to playing golf, a tool to open a sarcophagus, etc. There is also a romantic story about Lucy and a son of Mr. Crackanthorpe. I could say that the ending of this story is very unexpected. You should read it if you curious about the story wkwkw. Okay, I think that's all about the review of this book. Thank you!
